Google just announced that it will be making Google Posts available in selected countries to help businesses highlight positive reviews of their customers. The search engine company made the announcement via a public tweet, saying:

Google Posts was initially launched as an experimental feature during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Back then, its primary goal was to provide candidates with prominent placement in search results for their messages and content.

Called candidate cards, the posts were shown in a horizontal carousel with the cards organized as per their Google ranking. Like the typical search results, the cards change positions based on the searching trends of online searchers.

That same year, Google offered the feature in selected small local businesses in the U.S. Then, in 2017, the search engine giant extended Google Posts to movies, sports teams, leagues, and museums within the U.S and Brazil.

Benefits of Google Posts

According to Google, Posts will allow businesses to communicate with their existing and future customers through the messages highlighted in their Business Profile on Google Search and Google Maps. Business owners can use the tool to post special announcements, offerings, showcase new or popular products, and even post details of upcoming store events like big sales.

Some of Google Posts benefits include:

  • Facilitating direct communication from you to your local customers
  • Improve customer experience with timely information
  • Promote your sales, specials, events, news, and offers
  • Appeal to your customers with engaging videos and photos

The cards will be shown to users in the Posts tab of a site owner’s Business Profile on mobile and on Google My Business website. It could also be displayed on Maps, Google Search, and on the Overview tab of the Business Profile. Business owners can use text, images, and videos as content for their Google Posts.
